Certificate of Authenticity Guide: Ripped vs Wooden Stats
Updated 2026-09-02 · Roblox Storage Hunters: Open World
A Certificate of Authenticity in Storage Hunters: Open World is a consumable item you bring to the Authenticator. Using one on an accessory (head, back or wrist slot) gives that accessory one permanent random bonus stat, such as extra Walkspeed, Tip Chance or Bid Zone Width. The certificate is consumed in the process. Authenticating costs nothing beyond the certificate itself: no Robux, no Diamonds.
A Ripped Certificate of Authenticity is simply the Rare (lower) tier. It rolls the same stats as the Epic Wooden Certificate of Authenticity, but with a narrower, strictly weaker range on every shared stat. Ripped Bid Recovery rolls 3.8%–13%; Wooden rolls 5%–25%. Both types drop from auction containers in every area of the map.
The serial number query comes up often, but neither the Certificates nor the Authenticator page on Fandom documents a serial-number system for certificates. Treat anything you read about serial numbers as community-reported, unconfirmed.
Certificate types
Three certificate types are documented.
| Certificate | Rarity | Where it comes from | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ripped Certificate of Authenticity | Rare | Auction containers, all locations | Rolls a basic or exclusive stat with a narrower range |
| Wooden Certificate of Authenticity | Epic | Auction containers, all locations | Rolls a basic or exclusive stat with the full range |
| Certificate Of Alienticity | Mythical | Alien Market roll, 25 Alien Coins (3.4% chance per roll) | Stamps one of six slot-locked Alien Authentications instead of a normal stat |
Wooden and Certificate Of Alienticity roll identical ranges on every basic stat they share. The Alienticity advantage is access to the Alien Authentications, which a Wooden certificate can never roll. The Alienticity was tied to the Alien Invasion event (August 16–30, 2026) and was also handed out as a reward for several Alien Invasion event quests. The event has ended, so it is no longer obtainable.
Bonus stat ranges
These ranges are for an unmutated certificate. "Not yet confirmed" means nobody has recorded that roll yet, not that the stat is unavailable. A dash means the stat cannot come from that certificate type at all.

What authenticating an item means
"Authenticating" an accessory means spending a certificate at the Authenticator to attach a permanent bonus stat to it. The stat type is rolled randomly from the pools above. The certificate's quality only shifts how strong the number is likely to be, not which stat you get.
The bonus is attached to the accessory itself. The Authenticator is only documented as working on accessories, not on regular auction items or vehicles.
How to use a Certificate of Authenticity
- Go to the Authenticator. It is a service area, and the Club spot sits right next to it.
- Select the accessory you want to buff.
- Select one certificate (Ripped, Wooden or Alienticity) from your inventory.
- Confirm. The certificate is consumed and the accessory receives its bonus.
Re-rolling right after a roll
Immediately after any authentication roll, two paid options appear. Each costs a flat 199 Robux and does not use another certificate:
| Option | Cost | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Reroll | 199 Robux | Rerolls the stat itself; can land on a completely different stat |
| Reroll Number | 199 Robux | Keeps the same stat and rerolls only its percentage |
These two options only exist right after a roll. If you come back later and want a new bonus, you have to authenticate again with a fresh certificate.
Re-authenticating an accessory
An accessory that already has a bonus can be authenticated again with another certificate. The new roll replaces the old bonus. It never stacks a second stat, and the previous result cannot be recovered.
Certificate quality: mutation and grade
Certificates are items, so they can carry a mutation and a grade like anything else you pull from an auction. Both change the strength distribution of the roll: better mutations and grades push the result toward the top of the stat's range. Fandom hosts a distribution chart for this, but the exact per-mutation and per-grade shifts are not documented as numbers yet.
One confirmed example: a Secret-mutated Wooden certificate shifted the Overcharged floor from 5% up to 9%, while the maximum stayed at 20%. In that case the mutation raised the floor of the roll and left the ceiling unchanged.
Whether grading a certificate at the Grading Store before using it is worth the fee is not documented. The general rule from the source is simple: a higher-grade, better-mutated certificate gives a better expected roll on the same stat.
What a Ripped certificate means
"Ripped" is just the name of the Rare tier certificate. It is not a damaged or broken item, and it works at the Authenticator like any other certificate. The difference is purely the range: on every shared stat the Ripped certificate rolls a strictly lower band than Wooden. For example, Walkspeed from a Ripped certificate caps at 25%, while Wooden reaches 50%; Tip Chance caps at 7.5% versus 15%.
Since any later authentication replaces the previous bonus, using a Ripped certificate now and a Wooden one later means the Ripped roll is overwritten. Whether to wait for a Wooden certificate is a judgment call, not a documented rule.
Where certificates drop and authentication chances
Certificates drop from auction containers in any area, and they are not tied to a specific location or auction pool. Business Bay was confirmed to drop certificates after a same-day hotfix. The exact drop chance per container is not documented yet, and certificate sale values are listed as "Varies" in the item data.
The chance of rolling each individual stat during authentication is also not documented. The only published odds are for the Certificate Of Alienticity itself: a 3.4% chance per 25-Alien-Coin Alien Market roll during the event.
